PRIVATE RESIDENCE

FRASER - EAST VANCOUVER FULL FLOOR RENOVATION

A full main floor renovation of an over 50 year old home redefined the meaning of ‘Vancouver Special'.

The finish palette was partially inspired the stunning tones of an exquisite mature Japanese Maple tree in the middle of the front yard framed from the interior by the focal bay window in the front Family Room and light neutral tones to reflect exterior natural light into the home, providing a backdrop of exceedingly charming family heirlooms including a vintage rocking horse, hand crafted solid wood dining table with benches and a dining hutch passed down through two generations.

The primary design challenge was to create an open plan livable space around existing large sturdy structural posts and beams for a young active family of five to allow the parents clear visibility to their three young sons ranging from new born, toddler and grade school age during daily activities in the home while also maximizing storage space throughout the Entryway, Family Room, Kitchen Layout and informal multi-functional kitchen island for dining and homework sessions. Durable, cleanable finishes and bringing in much needed natural light were also critical goals of the renovation to accommodate the growth of the family for years to come.

The 'Before' and 'After' comparison certainly speaks for itself.
